Pip ‘n’ Milly Creations is the brainchild / passion / work-from-home job of Fiona Ballard (that’s me!). I live on Vancouver Island on the West Coast of Canada with my husband and our two young daughters. This space is reserved for the products which are made for sale, but I make a variety of other items which I blog about at The Winking Frog.
I love to make things and my focus is on practical, functional and aesthetically pleasing. My philosophy is simple:
Handmade. Well-made. Uniquely you.
I put a lot of care and attention into everything I make and I love what I do. I shop locally, buy small amounts of each fabric and every item I make is unique. I have no bulk purchasing power, do all my own work and do not operate in the same market as mass-manufactured goods. I believe the prices here are a fair reflection of the materials and work involved in making each piece.
Unless specified otherwise, all designs here are my own. I will soon be adding products designed by Nicole Mallalieu, handmade by me.
I care about the world we live in and do my best to keep this in mind in my work. I am very uncomfortable with the “disposability” of our culture and therefore make items which I believe are useful, with enduring appeal. I believe that excessive packaging is a significant environmental issue, so I use minimal, repurposed or recyclable packaging where possible, without compromising the protection necessary when shipping a unique product which has taken hours to make!
